KUNSTSILO

A transformed grain silo - now one of Northern Europe’s most innovative art destinations.

Nordic modernism inside an award-winning architectural landmark

Kunstsilo is a striking former grain silo on Odderøya in Kristiansand, reinvented as a pioneering center for art and culture. Opening in 2024, the museum showcases the internationally acclaimed Tangen Collection (the world’s largest collection of Nordic modernist art) alongside Kunstsilo’s own permanent and rotating exhibitions. The architectural transformation has received global recognition, blending industrial heritage with bold contemporary design.

In 2025, Kunstsilo was named the world’s most beautiful museum by the prestigious Prix Versailles, and has appeared on several international “must-visit” lists, including The New York Times’ “52 Places to Go in 2025” and TIME Magazine’s “World’s Greatest Places.” With its fusion of architecture, art, and Nordic cultural history, Kunstsilo offers visitors an immersive experience that feels both modern and deeply connected to the region’s heritage.
