FJELLSKÅL

Fresh Norwegian seafood prepared daily at Bergen’s historic Fish Market.

Three generations of seafood craftsmanship in the heart of Bergen

Founded in 1976, Fjellskål is one of Bergen’s most established seafood destinations, family-run across three generations. Located in the Mathallen at Fisketorget, the restaurant and fish market sit side by side, allowing guests to see the day’s catch before it is prepared. With views toward Vågen, Bryggen and Mount Fløyen, the setting reflects Bergen’s deep connection to the sea.

Fresh seafood arrives every morning, with more than 70 species offered throughout the year. The selection includes Norwegian cod and halibut, live scallops, king crab, lobster, seasonal skrei, wild salmon and other traditional Norwegian ingredients. Live shellfish tanks allow guests to choose their seafood directly, creating a dining experience that combines Norwegian purity with a presentation familiar to Asian seafood culture. Fjellskål is open year-round and welcomes individual travelers, families and small groups seeking authentic, high-quality Norwegian seafood.
